This is a condition characterized by “Sclerosis” or scarring at multiple sites throughout the brain or Central Nervous System. This sclerotic effect causes the patient to lose nerve function of the affected nerve due to inflammation and results in decreased ability to transmit nerve signals. The condition is widely believed to be autoimmune with unclear triggers. However, much like any autoimmune disease, environmental effects cannot be overlooked. To that end, it is important to assess for toxic exposures including heavy metals. Additionally, it is important to down regulate dysfunctional immune responses and reduce inflammation, the root of immune system evils.
